Passenger Returns Airline Blanket After ‘Stealing’ It 9 Years Ago

It’s never too late

Admit it. Sometimes when you’re on a plane, the temptation to take home one of the airlines’ comfy blankets is just too real. And for some, that blanket does actually make the trip to their homes.

But what happens to the guilt of stealing the blanket? It may have been nine years since this man took home an airline blanket, but he still feels the guilt.

An air steward took to his personal Instagram to share his experience on a recent flight where an anonymous passenger had left behind an old airline blanket with a note attached to it.

Clearly full of regret, the note read:

“Sorry… I was dishonest in the past. I took this blanket, around 2011 if I’m not mistaken. Today, I am returning it. I apologise and I hope that you’ll forgive me for using it all this time. By the way, it’s my favourite blanket… I’m sorry once again.

Speaking to Harian Metro, the steward Kamarulzaman Abd Karim said, “As usual, we’d conduct inspections in the cabin after passengers leave to make sure that they didn’t leave their belongings behind.”

That was when the steward had found the “sweet” note.

Speaking to the publication, he noted that he felt moved by the anonymous passenger’s decision to return the blanket, especially since it’s been nine years since it was first taken.

We applaud this passengers actions in returning the blanket! But please, try not to take something that doesn’t belong to you… Maybe ask the air steward if you’re allowed to take something first?

Have you ever “stolen” something from an airline before or do you know someone who has? Let us know what it was!
