If you’re person that walks slow, it’s probably time for you to start walking faster because walking slow is tied to early deaths based on a new study.
A recent study shows how people that walks slow have a shorter life-expectancy compared to people that walks fast.
After almost seven years of research that observes almost 475,000 participants of their usual walking speed and BMI for almost seven years, it’s concluded that fast walkers have longer life expectancies.
Among the 12,823 deaths that occurred over almost seven years, fast walking women and men have a life expectancy ranging from 86.7 to 87.8 years and 85.2 to 86.8 years respectively.
And slow walking women and men have shorter life expectancies with 72.4 years and 64.8 years respectively.
Walking fast do give you a life-expectancy boost and if you walk over 6.4 kmh (4 mph) you can live 15 years more for women and 20 years more for men compared to people that walks slower than 4.8 kmh (3 mph)!
So if you’re a slow walking person, it’s time to walk faster! But not too fast because people that walk fast are also reported to be less happy so…
