Frontliners have been busy keeping the public safe during these difficult times, but they’ve not only been protecting humans, they’ve been protecting and saving animals too.

Recently a couple of kakak bomba helped to save a doggo who got its head stuck in a plastic container, and another police officer helped to save a puppy that fell in a drain while on MCO duty.

Now, a couple of police officers are warming our hearts once again by rescuing an injured dog that was lying helplessly in the middle of the Federal Highway.

Shah Alam district traffic policemen, Corporal Shafie Jaafar and Corporal Izwan Nabiah have been receiving praise for their act of kindness towards a doggo that had been injured and was lying in the middle of the busy highway this morning.

Speaking to the Malay Mail, the officers noted that they had spotted the motionless dog at kilometer 13.8 during their rounds. They then leaped into action to help the helpless dog.

“We were doing our rounds and upon seeing the dog, we got down and quickly cordoned off that lane as we didn’t want any vehicle to hit the dog,” Corporal Shafie said.

“We also noticed that parts of the dog’s body were bleeding and we think it’s the result of a vehicle hitting it,” he added.

After cordoning off the area, the policemen realised that it was dangerous to leave the dog in the middle of the busy highway, and together, the two policemen lifted the dog and safely placed it by the side of the road.

A passerby stopped to ask what the commotion was and upon learning about the injured dog, offered to take the dog home to care for it.

“The man decided to take the dog home and was also willing to send the dog for proper treatment,” the officer said. “And we were glad that he (passerby) had offered to look after the dog as we knew that the dog would be in safe hands now.”

When asked why the two police officers decided to go the extra mile to rescue the doggo, Corporal Shafie noted that it was in his nature to help anyone – humans and animals – when they needed it.

“I was also overwhelmed with sympathy when I saw the dog on the road. I felt that it was also my responsibility to help it in whatever way I could,” he said.

The selfless act was posted on the Royal Malaysian Police’s Facebook page and the post has received a lot of love from netizens who can’t stop praising the officers’ act of compassion.

Thank you officers for keeping the doggo safe and ensuring that nothing worse happened to it!
