You might have heard about or seen a video of Ayam Goreng Viral that was all over the Internet recently. And you might also be wondering what all that drama is about.
Well, the story started when local actress Nabila Huda launched into a don’t-spread-fake-news public service announcement. However, things took a weird turn when she started warning people to NOT search for “ayam goreng viral”.
Hearing her calls to “jangan search” and assuming that it was a diss on his band, Search, a triggered Amy Search (local rock legend who’s also Nabila’s famous father) popped onscreen to tell Nabila off. In case you missed the video…
Then it got us wondering—what’s with all the warnings to not search for “ayam goreng viral”? Curiosity got the better of us, so we went on Google and found this:

We got Mekdid! As it turns out, the viral video is actually a campaign by McDonald’s to promote their Ayam Goreng McD!
The fried chicken may have been part of Mekdi’s menu for many years, but thanks to their clever marketing since 2017, the Ayam Goreng McD fad has always been around. Remember that time in 2019 when they decided to amp up the heat with their ayam goreng by making it extra spicy?
Not only did it become the talk of the town once again, the queues to most of the branches were super long.
#Throwback to long queues pre-COVID
Okay, BRB. All that talk about Ayam Goreng McD is making us hungry. Who’s up for some crispy, delicious Ayam Goreng?
