There’s nothing better than having an icy, cool dessert on a hot day, and living in Malaysia, we’ve got plenty of hot days.
One of our favourite frozen treats is of course, shaved ice. With so many yummy flavours, our biggest problem is choosing our favourite, and now, there’s a new flavour that we’re not sure whether to love or hate.
Ramen-flavoured shaved ice.

Yup, you read that right. Ramen-flavoured shaved ice.
If you have a love for ramen and shaved ice, then this would be the perfect dessert for you!
As we all know, ramen is best served piping hot, but a Tokyo-based chain of restaurants has come up with a solution that “cools ramen down for the summer, but keeps the flavour we know and love with shaved ice ramen,” Sora News 24 wrote.
Bankara, the chain of restaurants, introduced the Shaved Ice Hiyashi Miso Ramen which is based on their popular miso ramen. Instead of noodles and broth, the dish comes with noodles and shaved ice.
But this isn’t just any regular shaved ice that’s usually made of freezing water and flavours, the ramen shaved ice is actually made by freezing miso ramen broth!

“Technically, this makes the Shaved Ice Hiyashi Miso a brothless ramen, unless you count whatever moisture the ice melts into while you’re eating,” Sora News 24 writes.
Make no mistake, this ramen-flavoured shave ice is a “full-fledged ramen.”
The frozen treat comes with traditional toppings such as meat, bean sprouts and menma (fermented bamboo shoots).
The Shaved Ice Hiyashi Miso will be available to customers in Japan on 15th June and will be priced at 880 yen (RM34.90).

Unfortunately, the ramen-flavoured shaved ice is not available in Malaysia just yet, but who knows, it could make its way to our shores soon!
Until then, we’ll be here… Still deciding if ramen-flavoured shaved ice is a good thing or a bad thing…
What do you think about the new flavour? Yay or nay? Let us know!
