It sounds like the plot of a fairytale rom-com, but we can assure you, it’s happening in real life. A man in Kota Kinabalu has placed a classified advertisement in a Sabah daily to look for a lady he met on 9 May, the polling day of the general election.

Identified only as Gan, the man said he has been wanting to meet the woman again after that day and decided to put up the ad.

When contacted, Gan kept mum about his full name, age, family and marital status. “I have been thinking about this lady for months and I just want to be friends with her. I have no ill intentions but to sincerely find a friend whom I can hang out with,” he said.
He said that on the morning of 9 May, he was lining up for his turn to vote under the scorching sun when this lady came over and offered to share her umbrella with him while commenting about the hot weather. They hit it off and were chatting as if they were old friends. “I can’t get her off my mind. I hope to see her again, maybe go out for a cup of coffee,” he added.
Gan hopes the lady, whom he described as cute with short hair and approximately 160cm tall, would see the ad and contact him.

While we commend his effort, his method is pretty old school! Gan, what if she’s like us and doesn’t read the newspaper anymore? We suggest he posts it on Facebook instead! Confirm he’ll get a lot of shares! 👍🏼
