If you’ve been anxiously waiting to return to school after staying home for so many months, we’ve got good news for you.

According to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, schools nationwide are set to be reopened in stages during the recovery movement control order.

Students all over Malaysia have been staying at home since the MCO was first announced back in March, in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

In the recent live broadcast by the Prime Minister, it was announced that the RMCO would be replacing the current CMCO and it’ll last from 10th June – 31st August.

Under the RMCO, many sectors will be returning to life as normal but under strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The school sector is included in this as well.

However, don’t expect to be immediately heading back to school on 10th June as schools will only be reopening in stages and under the guidance of the Education Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

“For parents with school-going children, you must be wondering when schools will reopen,” the Prime Minister said. “For your information, schools will be reopened in stages under the RMCO after obtaining necessary recommendations from the Health Ministry.”

“The Education Ministry will then make a detailed announcement in the near future,” he added.

Previously, Education Minister Mohd Radzi Md Jidin told parents to not worry about sending their children back to school, but to instead spend their time teaching them how to properly and regularly practice social distancing.

Last week, the Education Monister also noted that schools reopening would only involve Form Five and Six students in nearly 3,000 schools nationwide.

We have yet to receive a full update on the current schooling plans with the new RMCO, but we’ll keep updated on how and which schools will be opening in stages.
