The 29-year-old spent five years training for the record-breaking moment and he even managed to beat his personal best of 121 hours after diving off the Egyptian coast of Dahab in 2017.

Saddam initially intended to remain underwater for 150 hours however he did not achieve his goal as his medical team had some health concerns.

Despite the absence of official media, hundreds of Dahab residents, Tourists and diving community members gathered to celebrate Saddam’s record-breaking achievement when he came out to land.

According to Egypt Independent, the diver refused to attempt the long dive outside of Egypt and held firm that he wanted to achieve his dream in his home country.

Saddam’s underwater mission began on 5th November and he then spent six days in the depths of the Red Sea accompanied by rotating assistant and medical teams under the supervision of Adel Taher, director of the Hyperbaric Medical Center (HMC) in South Sinai.
