Growing up, you may have had your own Siamese fighting fish aka betta fish, or know someone who did. You may still have a betta fish now!
But imagine someone deep frying the betta fish and eating it!

A post has recently been making its way around and the pictures are leaving pet owners everywhere shocked and horrified.
The post shows dozens of betta fish being prepared to be deep fried and become a dish for someone.

The pictures see the pet fish being prepared and marinated with herbs and an all-purpose flour batter, in various stages.
After the marination, the fish were then deep fried in a wok and served on a plate…
Who this shocking dish originally belongs to is still a mystery as the pictures seem to have been reposted from somewhere else. The post does however seem to originate from Indonesia.
“Betta lovers cry when we look at this, especially me,” the poster wrote in the caption.
Pet lovers have filled the horrified comments about the dish.
“I buy one and I give it the utmost care so it looks nice,” one commenter wrote. “If I had this many I would buy a [large] tank. But they turned them into rempeyek here.”
