We love ice cream and we’ll have it anytime, anywhere but maybe not in every flavour – including spicy chili oil.
Granted, we’ve seen our fair share of unusual ice-cream flavours like meat-flavoured, mayonnaise flavoured and more, but spicy chilli oil flavoured may just take the cake.
A well-known fast food chain in China has introduced its new limited edition ice cream of the month, the spicy chilli oil sundae.

Only available on its members-only “creative” menu, the spicy sundae is redeemable for free with a coupon except in some regions including Beijing city, Hebei and Liaoning provinces.
While we’re used to seeing either chocolate fudge or strawberry sauce on our sundaes, this ice cream is doused in a generous amount of spicy chilli oil.

Though the flavour may seem unusual, spicy chilli oil ice cream has been around China for some time.
Back in 2018, Chongqing and Chengdu in the Sichuan region first made the unusual combination viral on the internet. Seeing as how spicy chilli oil is a staple amongst the locals in the Sichuan region, it’s really no surprise that there’s an ice cream version.
Some netizens are grossed out about the idea of the combination but others who have tried the ice cream actually shared that the flavour was delicious.

Delicious or not, our stomach are growling just looking at this sundae.
We love our chilli oil and we love our ice cream but we’re not sure about both of them together… We’d give it a try though!
