As we all know, the pandemic has been hard on everyone but especially the frontliners who have been pouring everything they have into curbing the spread of Covid-19.
One exhausted nurse however has a friend to comfort him during his breaks. His friend? An adorable stray cat.

Ahmed Flaty is currently training to be a nurse and is doing his internship at a hospital in Egypt. Working at the hospital is incredibly taxing due to his workload but Ahmed powers through his shifts with drive and dedication.
Though the nurse rarely has breaks, during one break, he made a new friend when an orange kitty decided to crawl on his lap to comfort him.

According to Ahmed, he was sitting and taking his break outside the hospital with his colleague when the stray cat walked up to him, climbed onto his lap, curled up, and fell asleep.
“I was sitting down to talk with a friend of mine in front of the hospital where we have our internship year and as I was speaking with him this little kitten walked up to me,” Ahmed told The Dodo. “[She] didn't meow or anything — just looked at me, then climbed onto my lap, looked at me for a bit and then slept.”
The nurse was surprised that the kitty trusted him and was touched by its actions, especially since stray animals in Egypt are known to be wary of people as they are often treated poorly.
“Stray animals in Egypt are generally treated very badly,” he said. “So a kitten or dog coming up to a human this way, especially when there wasn't any food involved, is very weird.”

The stray cat spent 20 minutes sleeping in Ahmed’s lap. She then got up and walked away from the nurse.
Ahmed shared that the unexpected cuddle session left him feeling better than he had in months.
“I had been on 12-hour shift continuously for like 20 days straight but that cat made all that seem like nothing,” Ahmed told The Dodo.
He added that meeting the stray was the best moment of his year.

Unfortunately, Ahmed has not seen the loving stray since their one break together, but he keeps an eye out for her every time he goes on break.
He shared that he’s deeply thankful for the serenity and comfort she brought him during a very stressful time.
