Being in love makes you feel a lot of emotions, but while you might feel butterflies in your stomach, science says that you’re also less productive.
A recent study conducted by researcher Henk van Steenbergen and his colleagues from Leiden University and the University of Maryland shows that being in love affects your ability to focus and perform tasks.
42 participants in new relationships (less than six months) were analyzed performing specific tasks and the result indicates that "high levels of passionate love of individuals in the early stage of a romantic relationship are associated with reduced cognitive control."
Which means individuals are so in love that they can’t concentrate and perform tasks that require attention!
"It could be that the obsessive nature of passionate love imposes important constraints on performing well in tasks that require self-control,” Steenbergen said.
So the next time someone asks you why are you so unproductive, blame it on love. That’s if you’re not single…
