Many of us are working from home these days thanks to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and while we’re getting used to our new normal again, we still miss our work life and especially our colleagues.
According to a recent survey, there’s a reason we miss our colleagues so much and that’s because they’re actually our BFFs.
In a survey of more than 2,200 adults in full-time employment, 52% shared that they considered their co-workers to be their closest friends.
Given that we spend an average of eight hours a day and five days a week with our colleagues, these results are not surprising especially as many co-workers tend to share the same goals and sometimes the same enemy (usually the boss or an annoying manager).
The survey by Hampers also found that it takes an average of eight months for a co-worker to becomes close friends, on the basis that the work together day-in and day-out.
With so much time spent together, it’s unsurprising that co-workers tend to spill their deepest, darkest secrets and feelings with one another.
Of the 2,200 people surveyed, 42% noted that they tend to even spend time with their colleagues outside of work.
More than 400 participants shared that having a best friend at work helps contribute to their overall happiness in their jobs.
We’re definitely missing our colleagues/BFFs more now!
Share this with your work BFF!
