While we’re being responsible and staying in our homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have to admit that we’re running out of things to occupy our time with.

Luckily, for those living with family or with others, we always have board games to help entertain our time!

But if you’ve got someone whose name is Emily around, you might want to be careful when playing board games with them because according to a survey, they’re the people who are most likely to cheat!

Conducted by a marketing agency called Boutique, the survey asked the British public who in their family is the most likely to cheat in board games and the research found that those who are named Emily were accused most frequently.

Unilad decided to do their own research on this survey and found that this was mostly true!

An Emily from Manchester however, defended her innocence and claimed that she had never cheated in her life.

“I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I have never once cheated in a board game,” she told Unilad. “The closest I’ve come to unfairly winning a game is when my parents would let me win when I was playing words like ‘cow’ in scrabble when I was a toddler.”

While Emily from Manchester may be innocent, Emily from Liverpool and Emily from Lancashire were less so…

“I’m like, the biggest cheat out there,” Emily from Liverpool told Unilad. “When I was young I used to fold the corner of the cards in ‘The Game of  Life’ just so I knew which were the best ones – I’d therefore one million per cent agree with the study.”

Emily from Lancashire was also quick to confess her board game crimes saying, “I’m not going to lie, I’ve cheated at ‘Monopoly’ before and I don’t feel bad for it. Cheating is just too easy to do when you have sisters like mine – plus, winning is just such a good feeling.”

Besides Emily; Megan, Hannah, Georgia, and Claire were also listed in the top five names on the list of cheaters – in descending order.

As for the top five names of males most likely to cheat, those named Ashley were found to be the biggest cheats followed by William, Scott, Callum and Isaac!

So if you’re planning a board game night soon and there’s someone in your home whose name is on these lists, you now know who to look out for!

Do you think the survey is true? Do you know an Emily who always cheats at board games? Let us know!
