Airport customs can be really strict sometimes and there are things that you can and cannot bring along with you depending on which country you’re going.

A Malaysian passenger recently got fined RM4,060 (NT$30,000) for bringing fried chicken to Taiwan!

Taipei Customs found two pieces of fried chicken wrapped in paper towel in the passengers bag (fried chicken is life), and had to issue a fine because meat product aren’t allowed to be brought into the country.

The Malaysian passenger also failed to declare the fried chickens because the lane the passenger was on is for people with nothing to declare.

Other products that are not allowed to be brought into Taiwan includes fruits and vegetables and it is to minimize the chances of pests or diseases to be brought into Taiwan.

So if you’re a fried chicken lover, be sure not to have them in your bag when you take a trip to Taiwan in the future!
