How many of us have found tears in our cables and have told ourselves, ‘I’ll get a new one later?,” but never do? How about our favourite D.I.Y project where we get some thick tape and wrap it around the wire to “fix” the problem?
If you’ve been putting off getting a new cable, we hope what you read next gives you that push to get one NOW.

A 17-year-old girl from Thailand recently lost her life after having been electrocuted when the torn up part of her cable touched the iron metal frame of her bed while it was charging.
Nong Ying was reportedly using her phone while it was charging (please, don’t do this) when the incident happened.
It was also reported that the teenager had attempted her own D.I.Y with tape to save the cable but unfortunately the tape tore and she lost her life in the process.

The torn table was said to have touched the bed frame of the victim which caused an electric shock and killed Nong Ying at her home in Chaiyaphum, Thailand.
Her mother, Boonpeng Tuponchai, found her daughter’s body still lying on the bed when she got home.
“I thought my daughter was asleep but when I tried to wake her up, I felt a small electric shock when I touched her,” she said.
The mother turned off the charger’s switch immediately but unfortunately, it was too late.

Investigations showed that Nong Yin suffered burns on her left hand that is believed to be caused by the electric current.
Investigator, Captain Khanti Peansoongnern pointed out that it was the exposed wire that was at fault for this unfortunate incident as the electric current from the cable took the teenagers life away when it touched her bed’s metal frame.

RIP Nong Ying.
If you’re someone who believes in the “tape solution” or have loved ones that do, please share this with them. It could save their lives.
