Those of us with pets know very well what happens when fireworks start to light up the sky.

Though they may be pretty to us humans, unfortunately they can be terrifying to our pets.

One dog was so terrified by the explosions, it crawled into a wall to hide and got itself stuck in the process.

The incident took place in Xiangshui County, China during the recent Chinese New Year celebrations and a clip of the rescue effort has since gone viral.

According to neighbours who noticed the struggling animal, the dog tried to take refuge behind the wall after a series of fireworks were set off to celebrate the festival and frightened it.

It is unknown as to how the poor canine got itself trapped in the wall but the neighbours immediately contacted the police after hearing the pup’s struggles from behind the wall.

The rescuers had to break through the wall’s plaster with a hammer to retrieve the terrified animal.

The dog has since been reunited with its owner and thankfully, it did not sustain any injuries.

If your pet gets scared by fireworks too, Battersea Dogs and Cats home previously shared some tips on how to help soothe them during fireworks.

Some of these tips include, not letting your dog go outside when the fireworks are about to start, creating a safe place inside your home for your pet where it’ll be able to hide from the explosions, and turning on your TV or playing music to help mask the loud sounds.

We’re super happy that this poor scared pup was able to be rescued safely!

Do you have a pet that’s terrified of fireworks too? What do you to help soothe them? Let us know!
