Developed by scientists at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, the Sans Forgetica font is a new font designed to help readers better remember the information they've read. The font is designed to force readers to spend a bit more time on each word and the scientists believe that it could particularly help studying students.

The Sans Forgetica was developed by researchers and designers specialising in typography and behavioural science. The memory-helping font is based on a font called Albion, but with substantial modification to reduce familiarity and attain its goal of engaging the brain more and helping readers retain more information.
Behavioural economist, Jo Peryman, spoke to DW saying: "We believe this is the first time that specific principles of design theory have been combined with specific principles of psychology theory in order to create a font."
According to its developers, the "Sans Forgetica lies at a sweet spot where just enough obstruction has been added to create that memory retention." The modifications of the font forces readers to spend more time - but not too much, reading each word, allowing the brain to engage in deeper cognitive processing.
