While travelling may be a bit hard now because of COVID-19, it doesn’t mean that we can’t still appreciate all the little things around us from different countries.
And this Totoro bus stop is a prime example of something we can appreciate and probably put on our travel list for the future.

Even if you aren’t a fan of Studio Ghibli’s works, you’d have definitely come across Totoro from My Neighbour Totoro at least once in your life. And of course, the animated movie definitely has its own following all over the world.
But these Japanese grandparents took their grandchildren’s love for Totoro to the next level by building their own life-sized replica Totoro bus stop for them!

The 70-year-old couple from Takahuru, Miyazaki in Japan, made the adorable statue of the iconic character from scratch, just by using traditional plastering techniques!

The base of the structure was built with wooden frames that were then filled with cement at the bottom to help keep the statue standing upright, even in strong winds. Multiple layers of concrete was then added.

After building the base of the statue, the grandparents then went to work by adding designs to bring Totoro to life!

The cute little grandpa and grandma’s creation is now the talk of the town and has gained huge popularity from all over!
Of course, their granddaughter loved their creation!
