To help curb road accidents and fatalities ahead of this year’s Chinese New Year celebrations, operation Ops Selamat 14 will be conducted from January 29 onwards.

According to Deputy Inspector General, Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim, about 226 road fatalities were reported last year over the Chinese New Year period.

Statistics showed a sharp increase from 255,392 summons in 2017 to 385,547 summons in 2018.

70% of the summonses were issued for these six offences and this time around, the police will be monitoring these offences heavily.

Here are the six offences that could cost you RM300:

If you’re caught committing any of these offenses, a maximum fine of RM300 will be slapped without a second consideration.

Meanwhile, the police will be monitoring traffic flow along all major roads and highways including these two critical paths:

  • Kilometers 287 to Kilometer 289.95 North-South Expressway at Simpang Pulai -Gopeng near Simpang Pulai Stop.
  • Kilometer 367.3 North-South Expressway north from Slim River to Sungkai.

With this strict enforcement, we hope that road users would be more responsible on the road. Don’t forget to follow Astro Radio Traffic on Facebook and Twitter for all your traffic updates!
