As we get older, the age of receiving handphones, tablets and gadgets, gets younger. However, some kids have to earn their gadgets the hard way.

All 10-year-old Yasmine wanted was a new iPhone. But her parents weren't just going to give it to her because she wanted one, she had to "earn" it and sign a contract!

Twitter user, @farhasaiful_, recently shared that her younger sister, Yasmine, had to sign a 'One Year Renewable Phone Loan' contract with her parents to receive an iPhone that she desperately wanted.

In order to keep the iPhone, Yasmine has to follow these 12 conditions:

1. Perform morning prayers

2. Charge the phone only until it is full and unplug it immediately after

3. Never let the phone battery die, as this may reduce the battery's performance

4. Never use mum and dad's phone

5. Never bring it to the toilet

6. Never bring it to school

7. Never use it at the dining table

8. Ask for permission before downloading any applications

9. To be responsible for any data usage and not ask for any additional data if she uses up her quota, unless it has been gifted

10. Read the Quran every day or a minimum of six times a week

11. Never call friends when she's out with family

12. Never skip tuition

If you're wondering what happens if Yasmine breaks any of these rules, it's simple. Her iPhone will be given back to her father, according to the deal.

According to her sister, Farha, their parents are super strict about enforcing the deal. Farha had signed a similar contract years before but her parents had taken away the  laptop for several months when she had broken "some rules as a teenager."

Farha, who shared the contract on social media, stated that the contract had been drafted twice and was advised by three people to ensure that the terms were reasonable.

She also added that Yasmine usually has to save to get anything that she wants be it books or stationary. Yasmine had previously saved money for two years by doing various chores to buy herself a Nintendo Switch.

Score one for parents everywhere!

What do you think about this contract? Does it really work?
