We all know the story of Rapunzel. The princess with incredibly long hair that was locked away in a tower, waiting for her prince to rescue her. We've found a real-life Rapunzel! Just minus the tower and the prince…
Alena Kraychenko is a real-life Rapunzel from Ukraine who hasn't had a haircut in 28 years!
Today, Alena's hair measures up to two meters long and sometimes, she even trips on it!
If you're wondering why Alena decide to let her hair grow, it all starts with her mother. Alena's mother had always told her that a woman's feminine beauty stems directly from her hair. Alena obviously, took her mother's words to heart.
The last time she had allowed anyone to go near her hair with a pair of scissors was 28 years ago when she was five-years-old! Even though keeping her long locks has caused her some problems, she's still convinced that her mother was right.
"There is nothing more beautiful in the world than a woman with natural, flowing hair," Alena said.
By the time Alena was in her teens, her hair had already reached halfway down her back! By her early 20s, it reached her waist and grew out to her knees. In her 30s, her hair started touching the floor!
As a mother of two, her long locks became more of a problem because her kids loved to play with it! She started to tie it up in a bun and would only let her hair flow on weekends and special occasions.
"It's now become a bit of a treat to let my hair down, because it is far more comfortable, as in a bun, it can be quite heavy," Alena said to the Daily Mail.
Even as her hair grows longer, Alena has no intentions of getting it cut or trimmed. She sees her long blonde hair as part of her identity. Although she describes herself as a "humble person," she loves being compared to Rapunzel. She also loves seeing the surprised look on people's faces when they see her hair let down.
We know what you're thinking about. How does she take care of it? Alena said that she loves taking care of her long locks but only washes it once every three weeks! Well, with hair that long, we totally understand.
As for her two daughters, Valeria and Miroslava, she hopes that they would follow in her footsteps but will leave it up to them to decide if they would inherit their mother's love for super long hair.
Wow. Are you a fan of the Rapunzel look?
