After the tragedy that occurred in Christchurch, the staff and students of Orewa College gathered together to express solidarity with the victims of the attack.

The school’s newsletter read, “The school gathered on Monday morning to show its support for the people involved in the attack and for all people of Muslim faith.”
“We hold firm to our manaaki values at this time and respect for others is at the heart of these values. Understanding and respecting those who have different backgrounds is what we all do, and need to do, to maintain a safe and civilised society. Hold firm to Manaaki Orewa, support each other today and in the days ahead.” it continued.
