Most of us have grown up with Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo and more in our lives, and unfortunately, one of the animators behind our beloved movies has passed away.

Rob had been working for Disney for 22 years and was working on the upcoming Monsters, Inc. spin-off series Monsters At Work when he passed away.

When the animator first started working with Disney, he worked in Story and Visual Development in Disney Feature Animation for five years. During his time there, he worked on many movies including Pocahantas and Fantasia 2000.

Rob then moved on to Pixar where he helped to bring more of our favourite movies to life such as Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Wall-E, Brave, Finding Nemo, Inside Out, Incredibles 2 and Onward.

His own daughter, Mary, became the voice behind the beloved Boo from Monsters, Inc.

MovieBrats Pictures co-founder Alexander Weimer shared the news of Rob’s passing on Facebook saying:

“Our hearts broke this morning when we learned of the sudden passing of Robb Gibbs, co-director on our animated film HUMP. We’ve not only lost a creative partner, but also a wonderful human being, always in a good mood and never short of a joke that made it a joy to work with him over the past few years.

Before we met Rob, he already looked back at an impressive career at Disney and Pixar… and he kept entertaining us with his anecdotal stories from his many years in the industry. He loved spending time with his daughter, and he loved old classic cars and zombie stories.”

Many friends and fans have taken to social media to mourn the loss of an incredible man who made our childhoods the best it could be.

Thank you for bringing our childhood to life, Rob.

You will definitely be missed.

So long, partner. RIP.
