The annual Golden Disc Awards, a.k.a. GDA happened on January 8 at 2pm, and it awed us! The 36th GDA was jam-packed with amazing performances, funny moments, and exciting winners!
BTS really did perform despite them saying they couldn’t make it!
Initially, it was reported that they will still be on their extended rest after their concert in LA, and to make up for not being there, they would be revealing exclusive footage from their concert for the first time on TV at the award show.
However, they really showed up on stage anyway and got the crowd super excited with a performance of ‘Butter’!
It was a star-studded night filled with exciting performances
Big names like IU, TWICE, SEVENTEEN, TXT, Jeon Sonmi, and more graced the stage throughout the night.
We also saw other amazing groups such as aespa, Brave Girls, THE BOYZ, ENHYPHEN, Stray Kids, STAYC, and Oh My Girl perform some of their latest songs. Let’s not also forget about soloists like Lee Mujin, Lim Young Woong, and Heize, who showed off their vocal capabilities and dance moves!
The hosts and award presenters were absolutely entertaining
The GDA 2022 was hosted by fan-favourites Lee Seung Gi, Lee Da Hee, and Sung Si Kyung, who have been hosting GDS in the past few years! They had great chemistry together and made the whole evening very entertaining to watch.
Besides them, a number of familiar award presenters such as Joo Ji Hoon, Oh Jung Se, Jin Seo Yeon, Goo Kyo Hwan, Lee Si Eon, and more also cracked jokes and shared funny stories while they were on stage.
Woo Do Hwan is back from military service!

On the other hand, fans of Woo Do Hwan, who starred in The King: Eternal Monarch, were glad to see him making his first public appearance as a presenter at the award show after being discharged from his military service on January 5!
Some of the winners were so unexpected!
Last year’s Rookie Artist of the Year nominee, aespa, was nominated for a Bonsang (the main award) and they won Artist of the Year this time!
Meanwhile, ENHYPHEN, who won the rookie award last year also won an award for their album Dimension: Dilemma. Of course, BTS, IU, and more picked up awards throughout the night too.
