The world-renowned theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking, has died at the age of 76 at his home in Cambridge.
“We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today,” Hawking’s children said in a statement.
Stephen is a world famous physicist and cosmologist, and his early works on black holes transformed how scientists think about the nature of the universe.

He contracted a neurological disease back in 1963 that took away his ability to move his limbs or speak.
The movie The Theory of Everything tells the story of the scientist and was played by Fantastic Beasts actor Eddie Redmayne back in 2014.
“He once said, ‘It would not be much of a universe if it wasn’t home to the people you love.’ We will miss him forever.”
