The course called "An interface between Fantasy Fiction Literature and Law: Special focus on Rowling's Potterverse," will be launched by the university in December in a bid to encourage students to relate real life situations to J.K. Rowling's wizarding world.

Witches and wizards alike will be glad to know that the university's modules will include the "enslavement of house-elves and the marginalisation of werewolves" as a module that studies the comparison of social and class rights in India.

Other topics included in the course will cover Sirius Black's wrongful imprisonment, the Wizengamot trials and Quidditch rules. The course is expected to include a total of 45 hours of discussion-based teaching.

It is an "experiment" to "encourage creative thinking" says Professor Shouvik Kumar Guha, who designed the course.

Speaking to the BBC he said, "In our current system, we simply tell student the black letter of law. Rowling's universe talks a lot about how legal institutions are failing in some scenarios."

The professor noted that the course aimed to experiment in pushing law students to "come out of their comfort zones" and to learn from a fantasy series that most of them grew up reading.

One of the best parts, the course module opens with two lines from the Harry Potter books:

"Are you planning to follow a career in Magical Law, Miss Granger?" asked Scrimgeour.

"No, I'm not," retorted Hermione. "I'm hoping to do some good in the world!"
