Passengers, this is the last time you'll hear a final boarding call at KLIA or KLIA 2. Please proceed to another airport.
If you're heading to KLIA or KLIA 2 anytime soon, you'll notice something amiss. The familiar dings of an announcement reminding passengers to head to their gates or to announce the final boarding call are missing.

In an effort to join the global "silent airport" movement, KLIA and KLIA 2 have reduced the number of public announcements made at its terminals.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) released a statement on its Facebook page to announce that they will be taking part in the "silent airport" movement effective 1st December 2018.
"Boarding call announcements and public paging for passengers service will stop completely effective 1 December 2018. We advise all passengers to refer to the Flight Information Display Screens (FIDS) or speak to our Airport CARE Ambassadors for assistance," the statement reads.
But what is the "silent airport" movement right?
As we all know, airports can be a crazy place with all the hustle, bustle and noise. Airports around the world are taking steps to reduce the mentally and physically draining airport noise in the "silent airport" movement.
The movement ensures that announcements are only made in the case of emergency or during severe weather. No announcements will be made to call passengers to their boarding gates.
