When the humans are away, the penguins will play!

And that’s definitely the case as a group of penguins at the Singapore Zoo seem to be having a ball of a time while the zoo is currently closed due to the Circuit Breaker that’s keeping residents indoors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Previously, we heard about penguins exploring the zoo’s playground and now, those same penguins are having fun of a different variety.

As the zoo is closed to the public, the staff at the Singapore Zoo have kept themselves busy by coming up with new and creative ideas to keep their resident animals engaged and entertained.

To keep their African penguins healthy, the staff decided to create an indoor obstacle course that would have otherwise been impossible to do if the zoo was operational.

The penguins’ sandy exhibit is now equipped with small bridges, fences, and plastic balls that they have to navigate and waddle through.

In a video shared by the Wildlife Reserves Singapore on Facebook, the penguins’ initial reaction to their newly decorated home is one of adorable confusion.

As African penguins come from habitats that are usually sandy, sometimes steep and rocky, the sandy slopes in the obstacle course mimics their natural habitat and also helps to strengthen the muscles in their legs.

According to reports, the penguins are allowed to roam free through their fun obstacle course around two to three times every fortnight.

As seen in the video, though the penguins were initially confused by their new surroundings, all it took was one brave penguin to waddle its way forward to explore.

Soon after, the rest of the penguins move their happy feet into the obstacle course for an adorable round of fun!

We could watch this video over and over and over and over again! So much cuteness!

What’s new and fun in your routine from home? Let us know!

Be sure to stay safe and stay home to stop the spread of COVID-19 and while you’re doing so, it will also give more animals like these penguins some time to have fun!
