Researchers from the university’s Faculty of Dentistry discovered that the fruit actually has the ability to hinder the spread of bacteria. This helps to curb bad breath and prevent tooth decay.
The researchers tested out a gel that was extracted from the rind of the fruit and were mind blown by their discovery.
The gel that was tested out on lab rats and studied; turned out to work exactly like chlorhexidine. Chlorhexidine is one of the disinfectants that’s usually found in your every-day mouth wash.
Further study found that when the fruit is ingested, there was significant reduction in the compounds responsible for bad breath.
