If you've got a fear of escalators (yes, some people do), you would probably want to stop reading here.
An escalator in Rome left as many as 30 people injured after it malfunctioned. At a busy metro station, the escalator in question begin to speed up, collapsed and caused a massive pile up of commuters that led to the injuries.
On first look, it seems like the video could have been sped up but as it goes on, the pile up certainly makes things clear.
In the unsettling video, commuters can be seen clinging to the handrails to avoid the pile up. Some even manage to pull themselves onto the divider between the escalators to escape the collision! Riders on the opposite escalator are seen reaching out to help people as well.

A witness speaking to the Irish Mirror said that the escalator malfunctioned after several fans were jumping on it. Dmitry Gurin, a Russian Embassy representative, told the Mirror that 30 people were injured.
"30 people were injured from among the fans of the CSKA football club in connection with the accident on the escalator of Rome's metro station," he said.
