Addison Rae Soft-Launches a Name Change (And a Whole New Era)

The TikTok star turned pop princess, Addison Rae has decided to say goodbye to “Rae” and will now be performing under the mononym Addison—just in time for the release of her debut album Addison, which dropped June 6.

So why the switch? She spilled the tea on Quenlin Blackwell’s Feeding Starving Celebrities YouTube series on June 8, explaining that the decision was all about evolution. “I said it in an interview, I was just like, ‘Oh, I think I’ve grown past being called Addison Rae,’” she said. “Then the album being named Addison kind of was a tie-in for that.”

That said, she’s not expecting a total rebrand overnight. “Whoever knows me as Addison Rae and knew me as Addison Rae will always know me as that,” she added. (So don’t worry, your old fan merch isn’t invalidated.)

But let’s be real—there’s also a practical side to the change. Signing full autographs with “Addison Rae” got old real fast. “It’s really long, and I would just rather sign ‘Addison,’” she joked. Mood.

The 24-year-old says the name shift just “makes more sense” and is more in line with where she’s at creatively. “It’s going back to the roots, really.”

Fun fact: Addison wasn’t always going to be the album title. At one point, she considered naming it after a specific track, but none of them truly captured the full vibe. “When you do hear all the music straight through, there’s not really a title that encompasses all of it,” she explained.

Ultimately, it was her inner circle that helped her land on the final name. “Everybody I played it to was just like, ‘Oh, it just sounds like you, it sounds like music you would make,’” she said. “So I was like, ‘So, maybe the album is just my name.’”

And now it is. Addison it is.
