Schools in Malaysia have been reopened for students with examinations on 24th June, and it has been just announced that non-examination students will start returning to schools once again starting 15th July too!
Education Minister Dr Radzi Jidin announced in a press conference that all schools will be reopening in stages starting 15 July, which will involve a total of 4.3 million students.
Form 1 to Form 4 secondary school students and year 5 to 6 primary school students will return to school on July 15, including remove class students.
Standard 1 to standard 4 students will start school on 22nd July in the second phase of schools reopening.
“Based on the assessment of school readiness and preparation, we believe that all schools are ready to reopen. School administrators have also made careful plans to fully manage student enrolment,” the education minister said.
“However, in making decisions regarding the reopening of schools, the Ministry of Education has always referred to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and National Security Council (MKN).”
“Based on the current situation of the Covid-19 outbreak, MoH and MKN have agreed that full school openings could be implemented in the near future.”
Schools will adopt one of 3 models when they reopen and will be based on the ability to maintain social distancing with single session schools, 2-session schools and classes on alternate days.
Boarding schools will also reopen based on their ability to maintain social distancing at their hostels and no co-curricular activities are allowed for now.
All private schools registered under KPM will also reopen on Wednesday, July 15.
Looks like it’s time for students to start packing their bags and adjust their sleep schedule to get ready for school!
