RECAP!
In the first episode, we saw the dancers being presented with their first challenge–to earn a team cap and a spot in 1 of the 4 dance captains’ teams. Each captain—Seven, Lego, Danny, and Khenobu—could only recruit 10 dancers. Those who were selected by more than one captain got the privilege to pick the captain of their choice!
Dancers who weren’t chosen were placed in a holding zone, awaiting a second chance to perform. The lucky few who managed to turn their luck around secured a spot in the next stage, and once all 40 spots were filled, the remaining dancers had to pack their dancing shoes and leave the show.
Here’s where to watch Battleground Malaysia: Road to Gold
The first episode aired on 29 Sept, so keep up with the heat on Astro RIA (CH104), Vinmeen (CH202) and SHOWCASE (CH413) every Friday, 10pm. You can also stream it on the Astro GO app with episodes available on demand.
A collab that’s passion > everything else
The show’s partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports is in line with the Ministry’s goal to help more gifted Malaysian youths make it onto the global dance stage. It’s also an initiative to cultivate gold-medal-winning breakdancers for the country now that breaking is recognised as a sport and included at the Olympics.

More than just dancing, the Ministry is also expanding its youth empowerment programmes in other areas through the Rakan Muda initiative.
What is Rakan Muda?
Open to youths aged 15 to 30, Rakan Muda explores various ways in which young people can effectively fill their time with the passions that fuel them. It offers life-skill workshops and programs that focus on enhancing one’s talent and potential.

Within the Rakan Muda movement, there’s also an extension known as Rakan Demokrasi, and one of its latest initiatives is Sekolah Rukun Negara.
Led by the Institute of Leadership Excellence and Development (i-LEAD), the programme aims to educate youth about democracy and drive a better understanding of the Rukun Negara. It’s also an effort to foster unity and harmony among young Malaysians of all races.
