Many of us are fortunate enough to work with reasonable bosses but there are some who have demands that are pretty ridiculous sometimes.

A screenshot from a WhatsApp group chat recently went viral on the internet showing a boss asking the employees to turn on their “last seen” and “blue tick”.

The boss shared that his intention were to make sure that everyone in the team reads the messages he sends.

“Dear team, please turn on ‘last seen’ and ‘read receipt’ (blue tick) settings. I want to make sure all of you read my message in the group. Thanks”, the boss wrote.

The employees in the group proceeded to reply with “ok”s with one simply replying with a “k”. Bold.

boss demands employees to turn on “last seen” & “blue tick”

Many people on the internet think that the boss’ request was an invasion of privacy and that employees should have the choice to turn off their last seen and read receipts if they want to.

Some however think that the boss simply wanted to make sure everyone read the messages that was sent in the group to avoid missed texts.

Other also suggested that employees should always communicate with each other and bosses via email and never use WhatsApp because it’s also used as a personal messaging app.

Have you ever been asked to do more ridiculous requests than this? Let us know your thoughts on the matter!
