Sometimes you can have a brilliant idea or creation that you just want to show your family and friends, just to get criticized and demotivated. And that’s what happened to this kid.
A teacher in an elementary school recently shared how one of her students got bullied for his own design and how the internet helped him out!
It started when the school was participating in “college colours day” where students were invited to dress to represent their favorite college or university.
The boy wanted to wear a University of Tennessee shirt but didn’t have one and decided to wear “an orange t-shirt to show his spirit” and even made his own DIY “U.T.” design.
The student was “SO EXCITED” to show his shirt but ended up in tears later that day after getting bullied and made fun of for his hand drawn design.
"He was DEVASTATED. I know kids can be cruel, I am aware that it’s not the fanciest sign, BUT this kid used the resources he had available to him to participate in a spirit day."
The teacher wanted to buy him an official University of Tennessee shirt and asked if her friends on Facebook if they had any connections because she wanted to “make it a little extra special for him.”
Her post the went viral and the University of Tennessee decided to send a “Volunteer Proud Pack” which included jerseys, hats, notes from school officials, and a football signed by head coach Jeremy Pruitt for the student himself, along with items like notebooks, pens, and water bottles for her entire class.
That’s not all! The uni also made the boy’s hand-drawn design into the official T-shirt and donate the proceeds to an anti-bullying foundation!
“He proudly put on the jersey and one of the many hats in the box. He had a big smile on his face, walked taller, and I could tell his confidence grew today! Thank you to the UT Nation for that!” the teacher wrote.
"All who saw had either goosebumps or tears while we explained that he had inspired and touched the lives of so many people."
Thank you, internet and people, for restoring faith in humanity! (brb crying)
