Sometimes people lose things to the sea like sunglasses or bracelets or flip flops, but this man almost lost his car to the sea!

Imagine planning the perfect day on the beach - complete with jet ski rides, only for your dreams to be washed away, literally.
Beach-goers at the Whitstable Beach in Kent, UK got more than a sun tan when they witnessed a car drifting away into the sea with the owner desperately trying to recover it. Luckily for the owner, the bystanders quickly turned their day at the beach into a rescue mission and helped to save the car from being carried out by the waves.

Lee Dolby, a local at the beach that fateful day, posted the video on Facebook and shared that the man was unloading his jet ski but parked a little too close to the waters.
“Just popped down the beach for an hour with the boys and see this fella trying to unload his jet ski and parked a little too close,” he wrote. “Couple of waves came and claimed his car!”
“That geezer’s just lost his car,” Lee points out in the video.
As the car drifts further away into the sea, a man can be seen whizzing around the car on a jet ski, and another man in a life jacket attempts to get a hold of the car but with no success.
The severity of the situation slowly begins to dawn on the on-lookers and some quickly move into action with one person retrieving a rope and wading into the water to attach it to the front of the car.

With the help of several others – including Lee and his 13-year-old son Harry, they manage to drag the now-drenched car out of the water.
“I got in to help recover the jet ski trailer and my eldest boy Harry got in to recover items that floated from car such as clothes and plastic bags, fuel cans,’ Lee said of the rescue mission. ‘It was quiet on the beach until this happened, which caused a gathering of onlookers.’
“Then a 4×4 pulled up and helped tow it out of the water, but obviously it wasn’t able to start,” he added. “It was moved to a safe place waiting for recovery.”

The car of course was unable to start after being dragged out of the water but luckily they managed to save it before it drifted too far out to sea.
While we’re still confused as to how the car even managed to get in the water and get swept out to sea… it’s nice to see people helping each other out in these kinds of situations.
