Universal Pictures has officially announced that Maika Monroe will star in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Reminders of Him, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling 2022 novel.

The Longlegs actress will portray Kenna Rowan, a young mother who, after serving a prison sentence, struggles to reconnect with her 4-year-old daughter. The film, first announced in October, is set to hit theaters on February 13, 2026.
The adaptation is being directed by Vanessa Caswill, with Hoover herself co-writing the screenplay alongside Lauren Levine. The duo is also producing the film through their company, Heartbones Entertainment, alongside Gina Matthews of Little Engine Productions. Robin Fisichella will serve as executive producer.

Hoover’s books continue to dominate Hollywood’s adaptation slate. Regretting You is slated for an October 2025 release, with casting currently underway. Meanwhile, production for Verity—starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett—is already in progress, with recent filming spotted in New York.
Speaking about Verity’s adaptation, Hoover teased its potential, saying, “I just read the script, and I’m super excited about it,” during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen last August.

With Reminders of Him and other adaptations in the works, Hoover’s stories are making a major impact on the big screen.
