A couple of days ago, Asians all over were deeply disturbed by one cooking show host’s method of cooking fried rice.

Recently, a 2019 cooking video titled “Hersha’s Easiest Ever Egg Fried Rice” resurfaced thanks to UK-based Malaysian comedian Nigel NG and his persona, Uncle Roger.
In the video, the comedian berates cooking show host Hersha Patel for her unconventional methods of cooking rice.
The host started off the video on a low note to Asians by not washing the rice before boiling it. She then goes on to commit the ultimate sacrilege in Uncle Roger’s eyes by straining the rice when it was 3/4 cooked and then running it through water!
Uncle Roger’s reaction video took the internet by storm with many crying in outrage against the blasphemous act.

After the video went viral, the comedian and the host surprised everyone by having dinner together and talk things out regarding the 2019 video, in an extension of goodwill.
They then shared a video of their meeting on social media and even talked about a future collab!
“To all my new friends/haters @MrNigelNg and I have just had a lovely afternoon discussing my ‘crimes’ against rice... watch this space.. collab coming soon,” Hersha tweeted.
“Big development: uncle roger is now making a collab with egg fried rice lady @hershapatel1,” Nigel tweeted in reply.
“Hersha’s really good, she’s a great presenter, really funny, but don’t post anything mean on Instagram alright. Otherwise, Uncle Roger will come for you,” Nigel said in response to all the trolling Hersha has been receiving.
“Because whilst this guy’s blown up, like nobody’s business, I’ve been trolled!” Hersha interjected.
But Hersha does go on to explain her “crime” against rice saying, “Okay, I’ll just make a quick point. I was doing a job for the BBC, presenting their recipes. I know how to cook rice! And that’s all I’m saying about that.”
