Things have not been the same since COVID-19 took over the world. Many have had to let go of the familiar in order to adapt to a new normal as we all stay responsible in helping to curb the spread of the virus. This includes all forms of public gatherings, dining methods and even dating!
Many countries have also closed their borders in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, and unfortunately for this couple, the closed borders have separated their love life too.

Shayla Cropley and Jordan Brown are an engaged couple who live on different sides of the closed U.S.-Canada border. Unfortunately, the two are now separated by said border amidst the current pandemic.
But this didn’t stop the couple from seeing each other and still have dates! They just had to get creative.
Shayla and Jordan, who live about 20 minutes away from each other, would meet up on opposite ends of Spednic Lake and call each other on the phone and talk.
Once it started to get a little warmer, the two decided to get even more creative by meeting up on kayaks in the middle of the lake!
They’d even bring games for them to play with each other whilst in their individual kayaks. All while social distancing of course!
The couple first met in 2015 and began dating in 2017. Once they were engaged, the two spent all their time together.
“My fiancé and I have been separated for 2 months due to the border closure. But this is how we get to see each other,” Shayla shared on her TikTok.
Shayla and Jordan hope that they will still be able to have their wedding that’s been planned for October 2020.
Their creative dates definitely prove that these two will do whatever it takes to stay together, forever!

With lockdown measures slowly loosening around the world, we hope Shayla and Jordan will be able to properly and safely spend time with each other once again.

In the meantime, be sure to keep playing your part by staying safe and staying home, and only going out if it’s absolutely necessary. And if you’re going out, be sure to practice social distancing.
