Blizzard Entertainment has had many renowned games over the years and two of its games will reportedly be developed into a TV series!
News that both the action role-playing video game series, Diablo, and online multiplayer game, Overwatch, are being made for TV came after co-president of Activision Blizzard Studios, Nick van Dyk revealed them on his LinkedIn page!
Nick listed, “Executive producer of Diablo, a TV adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s IP, rendered in anime style,” under many of his other achievements and he also mentioned that the show is in pre-production for distribution worldwide!
Below his Diablo achievement, Nick wrote that him along with his “creative partner, developed and sold an animated series based Blizzard’s Overwatch franchise.”
Fans have been hoping for an Overwatch series ever since the game’s release in 2015 and while Blizzard has been releasing a series of cinematic projects over the year, the TV show is definitely a fan’s dream come true.
A Call of Duty cinematic and television universe was also mentioned with Nick stating that he and his creative partner have “secured development funding, developed writer compensation deals and oversaw negotiations to secure talent.”
A Blizzard’s spokesperson said that they “have nothing to announce at this time” when asked to confirm the news but the information is pretty concrete and it’s unlikely that Nick van Dyk is lying on his own LinkedIn profile.
Which series are you most excited for? Let us know!
