With double-masking recently making headlines and COVID-19 cases on the rise, one man decided to go the extra mile to protect himself!
A foreigner recently went viral after wearing his very own make-shift mask as he waited at a vaccination centre in Langkawi.
The “unique” DIY mask looks like a hybrid of a snorkeling mask attached to a tube that ventilates and filters air in another big bottle and he even had a face mask worn on the outside of his DIY mask!
According to Harian Metro, Langkawi District Health Officer, Dr Mansor Ismail confirmed that the man with the DIY mask showed up at the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) Sport Complex to receive his vaccination.
"Yes, it is true that the foreign man was there to receive his injection at the LADA Sports Complex vaccination centre two days ago,” he said.
"It is understood that he received a call to receive the vaccine injection through the MySejahtera application.”
Dr Mansor said when he arrived at the registration counter and received the injection, the man was dressed normally with a face mask.
He only took out his DIY mask from his bag during his monitoring session before putting it on his face.
The reason behind his actions was unclear because the health worker said that the man did not suffer from any respiratory-related illness.
It doesn’t matter if it’s to get people’s attention, or if he thinks he’s in Christopher Nolan’s TENET movie, one thing’s for sure, at least he wore a mask and helped prevent the spread of the virus!
Many Malaysians applauded him for his efforts to keep himself and the people around him safe from the virus while some shared that some hospitals did indeed use snorkelling masks during the global respirator shortage last year.
What are your thoughts on it? Let us know!
