There have been many animals that gone viral over the past couple of years but we’ll never forget the one pup who made his way into our hearts with her frequent tapau-ing from a chicken rice stall.

Xiao Bai first made waves in 2019 when a video of her waiting patiently for her takeaway from a chicken rice stall in Miri, Sarawak, stole the hearts of the internet.

Sadly, the chicken rice stall operation Alex Sim, has shared that the beloved Xiao Bai (Little White) has passed away.

Taking to Facebook, Alex posted a black and white picture of the female mongrel with the caption “humans are scary”.

The stall owner did not reveal the cause of Xiao Bai’s death but responded to comments inquiring about the dog saying, “I am in a bad mood now, I cannot respond to your messages, apologies.”

One of Alex’s Facebook followers named Jason Lai however shared that he had contacted the Miri City Council dog catching unit and found out that they had put down the pup.

“They denied killing the dog, just tranqualised it,” he said. “But if the dog dies after it was tranquilised, it is the dog’s luck.”

Many were shocked to hear about Xiao Bai’s untimely demise and questioned the need to sedate the dog when it caused no harm.

We’re deeply saddened to hear about Xiao Bai’s passing and hope further investigation will take place to find out what happened to the pup.

We hope Xiao Bai is having all the chicken rice she’ll ever want.

Rest in peace Xiao Bai. We dedicate our next chicken rice order to you.
