Sabrina Carpenter just took Please Please Please to the next level—country style! And this time, she brought along the one and only Dolly Parton.

On Valentine’s Day, Carpenter dropped a deluxe edition of her 2024 album Short n’ Sweet, featuring a brand-new version of Please Please Please with Parton, 79. But what really has fans buzzing is the music video’s not-so-subtle callback to Carpenter’s ex, Barry Keoghan.
Keoghan, 32, originally starred in the Please Please Please music video while he and Carpenter were dating. The storyline followed a Bonnie-and-Clyde-esque romance, with Carpenter ultimately turning on her troublemaking lover, tying him up, and leaving him behind.
Now, in the new Nashville-filmed video, Carpenter and Parton hit the road in a vintage, outlaw-style adventure. The most eyebrow-raising moment? A mysterious handcuffed man in the back of their truck—wearing the exact outfit Keoghan wore in the original.

The song itself also got an update. In the original, Carpenter sang, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, motherf—ker.” But in the new version, she and Parton sing, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, like the others.” A softer touch, but still packing plenty of meaning.
Given that Please Please Please was already filled with cheeky references to Keoghan (“I heard that you’re an actor, so act like a stand-up guy”), fans are convinced this new version is yet another playful jab at their past romance.

Carpenter and Keoghan dated on and off for about a year before splitting in December 2024. And if this music video is any indication, Carpenter is moving on with some serious country legend energy.
