If you happen to be a driver that drives safe all the time and have no summons, you’re about to get more benefits!

Transport Minister Anthony Loke just announced that drivers without summons in Malaysia will receive a discount on their annual insurance premium renewals starting January 2020!

The minster said that the mechanism is already in the final stages and added, “for this effort, we need to integrate information and data by the police and Road Transport Department (RTD) on people with clean records on roads and vice versa.”

"We would also need support from insurance companies to create integrated data involving the RTD and police, and reward deserving people.”

The new system aims to motivate drivers to stick with the traffic laws and also to reduce the cost of living.

“It is a win-win situation for the insurance companies too. If we are able to reduce road accidents, insurance claims could also be reduced.”

“With this new system, instead of paying out claims, they could offer more rebates on driver’s no-claim bonuses (NCB), on top of the 50 per cent discount if their vehicle is accident free,” Loke added.

Looks like good drivers will finally be rewarded and hopefully this will be able to reduce the accident rates nationwide!

Are you happy with the new mechanism? Let us know your thoughts!
