Ed Asner took us on an incredible adventure out there in Up through Carl Fredrickson, but sadly the legendary actor’s journey come to an end as he passed away peacefully over the weekend.

Taking to Twitter, the actor’s family confirmed his passing saying:
“We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully. Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kidd on your head. Goodnight dad. We love you.”
The legendary actor passed away at age of 91 and while many know him well as the voice of Carl in the beloved animated movie Up, Ed was best-know for playing fictional TV newsman Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s.
His iconic role helped him win seven Emmy awards throughout his career, which also had him set the record for most wins by a male performer.

Throughout his career, Ed has taken on many beloved roles including the role of Santa Claus in the iconic Christmas movie Elf and more.
Many fans and friends of the late actor took to social media to play tribute to the great actor including Star Wars’ Mark Hamill.
