Get ready, because Wednesday Addams is almost back. Netflix has revealed that Wednesday season 2 will hit the platform in two parts this summer, promising a darker, more horror-leaning adventure at Nevermore Academy. Jenna Ortega returns as the iconic gothic teen, joined by a host of returning and new cast members—including Steve Buscemi and Lady Gaga.

When does Wednesday season 2 come out?
The second season of Wednesday will arrive in two installments. The first four episodes premiere on August 6, 2025. The final four will drop on September 3.
What’s Wednesday season 2 about?
Netflix’s official logline describes the new season as a “supernatural mystery” filled with “fresh foes and woes.” As Wednesday returns to Nevermore Academy, she’ll juggle family drama, returning adversaries, and new threats. Jenna Ortega, now also a producer on the show, has said season 2 will double down on horror, with slasher-inspired sequences and fewer romantic subplots.
Expect a deeper dive into Wednesday’s ancestry and her complicated relationship with Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones). “Every family has dark secrets,” Morticia warns in the trailer. And those secrets may come with deadly consequences.

Who’s in the Wednesday season 2 cast?
Returning cast members include:
- Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams
- Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams
- Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams

Gwendoline Christie’s return as Principal Weems remains uncertain, though Ortega has expressed interest in finding a creative way to bring her back.

What inspired season 2?
The showrunners, Al Gough and Miles Millar, said they wanted to lean into classic horror and slashers like Carrie and Prom Night. Ortega confirmed that one episode in particular is modeled after slasher tropes. She also noted that Wednesday will not have a romantic storyline this season, reflecting the character’s focus and growth.
Tim Burton, who directed four episodes in season 1, returns to helm the premiere and finale of season 2. Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson will direct the remaining episodes.
Is there a trailer for Wednesday season 2?
Yes. Netflix released an action-packed teaser in April, giving fans a glimpse of creepy dolls, flaming monsters, and returning characters. In May, they also released the season’s first six minutes, which show Wednesday escaping from a serial killer called the Kansas City Scalper (played by Haley Joel Osment).
Who’s not returning?
Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier, will not return following off-screen controversy and allegations he has denied. Naomi J. Ogawa (Yoko Tanaka) is also not returning due to scheduling conflicts and limited character development.
Will there be a Wednesday season 3?
Netflix has not confirmed a third season, but Ortega told Collider that the creative team is already brainstorming for potential future storylines.
Until then, mark your calendars: Wednesday returns to Netflix on August 6.
