A desperate search for an elderly grandma ended tragically after she went missing seven days ago in Serdang Raya.
76-year-old Lim Sai Lung was found dead in a drain beside an apartment in Serdang Raya after the smell from the drain led to her discovery.
The residents in the area revealed that the smell started three days ago but due to the sealed drain cover, they didn’t realise it was a dead body.
A search was conducted and halfway through, they located where the smell was coming from and looked through the drain hole with flashlight, only to see a hand.
The authorities confirmed the victim’s identity and her family was also at the scene.
The victim’s body was said to have been stuck on an electric cable and her belongings were also found along the higher area of the drain that wasn’t covered.
“I want to thank you to all the Malaysians that have been helping to search and share the missing persons notice,” said the founder of Community Policing Malaysia, Kuan Chee Heng in a Facebook post.
The victim who suffered from dementia went missing in Serdang Raya after visiting her daughter’s house that’s located in Taman Putra Indah.
“She’s very healthy and active. She was at her daughter’s house on Thursday, and left the place around 3pm and never came back. She’s wearing a brown floral print blouse with grey pants.
“My grandma stays with me. She went missing in this neighbourhood,” her granddaughter, Chong Ning Er previously told Malay Mail.
Many people have been helping to search for the elderly lady and shared the missing person’s news on social media ever since she went missing.
Our condolences to the family and we hope she rests in peace.
