Now we know, many of us are still upset with the final season of GoT and though there’s nothing we can really do about how the legendary series ended, we’re hoping that the prequel will be able to make up for everything that went wrong.

There have been many ups and downs with the Game of Thrones prequels. After announcing three spinoff series, it was revealed that only one series was given the green light.

After months of waiting, it looks like production on the highly anticipated prequel, House of the Dragon, has officially begun!

The first-looks at the upcoming series that’s set to hit screens in 2022, see a socially distanced table read featuring the cast that includes Matt Smith and Paddy Considine.

Matt Smith who also stars in The Crown and Doctor Who, will take on the role of Prince Daemon Targaryen while Paddy Considine will play the “warm, kind and decent” King Viserys Targaryen who was chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King Jaehaerys Targaryen.

Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans and Olivia Cooke will also appear in the upcoming series as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, The Sea Snake, Otto Hightower and Alicent Hightower respectively.

Other than the first looks, not much else is known about the series that will be based on author George R. R. Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood.

What is known however is that the House of the Dragon will take place 300 years before any of the events in Game of Thrones and of course, will focus on the story of the Targaryen family who are destined to become embroiled in a bitter civil war.

Ngl, after how GoT ended, we’re still a little skeptical to see how House of the Dragon will play out – especially since we already know what becomes of House Targaryen in the end…

Nevertheless, we’re excited to see more of Westeros!

Are you excited for House of the Dragon? What are you expecting from the upcoming prequel series? Share your thoughts with us!
