Most events and concerts have been cancelled in 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic but the first socially distanced concert was just held in the UK!

About 2,500 fans showed up for the world’s first socially distanced live show at horse-track-turned arena venue in Newcastle, England!

The concert attendees were separated in groups of five on metal platforms that are 2 meters apart at the concert by English indie-rock act Sam Fender.

The venue has 500 metal platforms and each has a table, chairs and even a fridge and the concert-goers were also asked to wear their mask and not to intermingle between sections.

Based on the photos showed from the concert, it looks like the compliance rate is high with people staying in their platforms during the performance.

Photos and videos from the concert are being posted online and many people saying they actually like it!

“I will miss the mosh pits,” Sam Fender said in an interview before the show, “but they will come. They’ll eventually come back when we’re allowed to do it again.”

“I think it’s fantastic that our region is going to lead the way on this, and we’ll be the trailblazers for something that will hopefully continue on through the rest of the pandemic. … It’s not going to be the same as a gig you would normally have, but we’ve got to do what we can do.”

Looks like this is what the future of concerts and live events will look like in the near future! (Hopefully not too long…)
